Three medical marijuana businesses set up shop in Jefferson City

Long-time residents of Jefferson City will know exactly where the city’s first medical marijuana dispensaries will be located.

According to City Planning Director Sonny Sanders, one retail operation will set up in the old Super D Drug store in the Jefferson Plaza on Missouri Boulevard. The other operation will set up shop in the old Captain D’s restaurant further down Missouri Boulevard.

Sanders says the old Super D location is under significant reconstruction. He says he hasn’t heard from the new owners of the old Captain D’s. But he says both still have dealings with the city they need to go through.

Sanders says both businesses will be inspected for adherence to city building codes. He says neither of them is apparently close to final inspection and opening.

Sanders say the city has just learned of a so-called manufacturing facility that has a published address in the city’s industrial park in the Algoa area on the eastern edge of the city. He says he doesn’t know much about the owners of that facility. He expects the manufacturing plant to package and infuse products for resale in area dispensaries.
