Two Jefferson City men are facing charges for stealing a safe from a home in Callaway County.
According to court documents the theft occurred last Thursday in Holts Summit. The men are accused of breaking into the house and stealing the safe that contained $30,000. The pair then allegedly disposed of the safe and the rest of its contents by throwing it off a bridge.
Currently one man is in custody, 20-year-old Darik Giarratano. He’s charges with burglary and stealing.
Giarratano's alleged accomplice, 21-year-old Colton Birdno, is charged with two counts of burglary and two counts of stealing. Court records show a warrant has been issued for Birdno’s arrest.
It was a CrimeStoppers tip that led authorities to both men as suspects.
It was just in December when the pair allegedly stole a safe containing money and narcotics from a friend’s home in Jefferson City.
