Two crew members of Owensville EMS are injured, one seriously, while responding to a traffic accident in Jefferson City.Â
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reports the accident happened Saturday night, around 8 p.m., on Highway 50 about ten miles east of Linn.Â
The patrol says a teen from Linn was attempting to pass a group of vehicles and cut in on the group, striking a SUV. The SUV overturned into the path of an oncoming ambulance. The pair collided and traveled off the road into a group of trees.
The ambulance driver, Joshua Opperman, 41, of St. Louis, suffered serious injuries. His co-worker, Brett Holtmeyer, 36, of Owensville, suffered moderate injuries. Opperman was flown to a St. Louis hospital for treatment.Â
No other injuries were reported.
