UPDATE: Person in custody after early morning shooting

CLARIFICATION: The person taken into custody Wednesday morning was not the suspected "shooter".

Jefferson City police have a person in custody in connection to an early morning shooting at a Capital City gas station.

Lt. David Williams of the Jefferson City police department says SWAT team members took the suspect into custody at the Hidden Oaks apartment complex near the shooting site in the 300 block of Ellis Boulevard.

Police were called to the scene just after three this morning after the report of multiple gunshots in the Break Time parking lot. When police arrived, they found a man in his early 20’s suffering numerous gun-shot wounds. The man was eventually taken to University Hospital in Columbia.

Williams says he can’t release anything more about the person in custody because the investigation is still in progress…but Williams says the shooting was not random. If you know anything more about the shooting, you’re asked to call the Jefferson City police department or crime stoppers at 659-tips.
