UPDATE:  The Pettis County Sheriff's Office reported at 11 a.m. that the incident has been stablized and there is no active hazardous threat in the area.  However, the roads will remain closed throughout the day for clean-up.

A portion of west Sedalia is asked to use caution after firefighters respond to a chemical leak.

KSIS Radio reports first responders have been on the scene of an acid vapor leak on W. Main Street since around 7:30 this morning.  A large white tank at MPW Industrial Services was reported to be leaking a white cloud of mist into the air behind the business.

Sedalia Police have asked people in the area of the leak to stay indoors until the air clears.  Portions of W. Main Street and Thompson Road will remain closed for the remainder of the day so hazardous materials can be safely contained and removed.
