Woman accused of killing Jefferson City man due in court Monday

UPDATE:  Benitez pleaded not guilty on February 22, 2021.  Her next scheduled court appearance is March 22.

A woman accused of killing a Jefferson City man appears in court today.  29-year-old Angelica Benitez is scheduled to be arraigned today on charges of second-degree murder and armed criminal action.  She’s accused of shooting 25-year-old Marqukis Hayes in the face while the two were in the drive-through of a Columbia McDonald’s in December.  Hayes’ body was found days later in an abandoned truck near St. Louis. 

Benitez is being held without bond.Â
