A vacant Audrain County home is heavily damaged by fire.
The Mexico Department of Public Safety reports it was called to the home in the 500 block of Martin Luther King Drive, Wednesday night around 8:30 p.m. By the time crews arrived, fire was visible from the front of the home. The fire was contained, but the home suffered significant fire, heat, and smoke damage.
Investigators report they found evidence in the home, indicating people had been recently been inside. They say the evidence included fireworks that had been used both in and around the house.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation. No injuries were reported.
