Victim of fatal Columbia fire identified

Columbia Police identify the victim of a fatal house fire.

George Grant, 66, was located inside a house in the 200 block of Ruby Lane, late Monday morning.

When crews arrived, smoke and flames were showing from a rear window where Grant’s body was found.  Police report that although the fire was confined to that one room, it caused significant damage.

A second person was inside the home, but was able to escape with minor injuries.

Investigators say at this time, no foul play is suspected.
