The National Weather Service has confirmed at least five tornadoes touched down in Missouri this past weekend.

A number of EF-1 tornadoes were reported in Southwest Missouri, including Cedar, Polk, Hickory, and Greene Counties.  The largest of those occurred Friday near the town of Fair Play, a small town about 40 miles northwest of Springfield.  The twister destroyed one home and damaged many more.

Meanwhile, an EF-2 was reported Saturday in Southeast Missouri's Cape Girardeau County.  That tornado had a maximum width of 300 yards, destroying one business while damaging others.

National Weather Service employees are in Bollinger County today, surveying whether it was a tornado that did damage there.

Although no tornadoes are in the forecast for the upcoming weekend, we could see a wintry mix of rain and snow starting Friday morning, with more flurries possible Saturday morning.
