One of two suspects, originally arrested on murder charges, pleads guilty to a lesser charge and awaits sentencing.
Gracie Avery, 21, of Columbia, pleaded guilty Tuesday to hindering prosecution.
Avery and her boyfriend, Justin Shelton, 25, were arrested following a botched drug-deal robbery earlier this year in Columbia. Shelton will be arraigned on a second-degree murder charge next month.
Court documents state the pair went to a home on Doris Drive with their friend, Joseph Taylor. During the course of the robbery, Taylor laid his gun down and the robbery victim grabbed it, firing a fatal shot at Taylor.
Shelton and Avery then allegedly sped from the scene, leaving Taylor to die.
